//Cohen’s Birth Story//

Thursday April 5th at 6:57 p.m. our beautiful baby boy Cohen Lee Rosenbohm was born. He weighed in at 6lbs 13oz and was 20 and 1/4 inches long. I wanted to write a post about how he got here so that I don’t forget all of the details:)
I had a repeat C-section scheduled for the coming Monday April 9th the day after Easter but had a feeling that he was going to come earlier than that. My guess was Friday April 6th (I was one day off.) My original due date was April 14th so he technically came 9days early.
I kept waiting for my water to break because that is how I went into labor with Riley but my water never broke. I just quickly went into full force labor! I had just put Riley down for a nap and decided to take one myself but I started having contractions and couldn’t fall asleep. They were stronger than the Braxton Hicks I had been having but I just kept thinking it was no big deal.
By the time Riley woke up I started thinking “I think I am in labor” but didn’t want to jump to conclusions so I decided to go to T.J. Max and walk around to see if they would subside. They kept getting worse and worse to the point where I was in the store and had to stop and put my head down on the cart because I was in so much pain. I think I freaked out a few people:) My sweet girl kept saying “What’s wrong mama, are you ok? I’ll take care of you.” Love that girl!
I decided we needed to leave fast and I called Matt and told him I was going to call and see if I could get in to see one of the midwives before I rushed to the hospital. So he met me there and sure enough I was having contractions about 3 min a part and was 3 cm dilated and almost completely 100% effaced. While I was in there they said my contractions were really strong and intense and I needed to head to the hospital right a way and they were scheduling my c-section at 6:30 it was 4:45.
So Matt and I ran home threw stuff together and had my mother and father in law come pick up Riley. By the time we got to the hospital was 5 cm and they were worried the Dr wasn’t going to get there fast enough because I was in really intense labor and moving fast. They had a hard time getting my IV in so they had to call a specialist and I was left with a really bruised hand they also didn’t give me anything for pain until right before I was wheeled into surgery and it took 5 times to get the Spinal in! I have all these little pin pricks in my spine now:)
The surgery went quick and at this point I wasn’t as nervous to have it done because I was in so much pain I was ready to get that baby out! Matt saw them pull Cohen out and said it was the weirdest thing he had ever seen ( he didn’t look last time.)
After a little over 48 hours in the hospital I was so ready to go home! We were able to go home on Easter! The stay at the hospital was a little rough a few hiccups but with visits from family and friends made it a lot easier. Plus I am a little loony when I am on Morphine and Percoset!
So glad to be home with Cohen and adjusting to a family of 4! I feel so blessed by what God has given me 2 beautiful healthy children and I would just like to say that my husband is the BEST! Its crazy how your love for someone grows even more overtime. I couldn’t have gotten through all of that without my best friend and love. Matt is without a doubt my hero!
