Guest Post// My Oily Anti-Anxiety Routine//

I am so excited today to feature a guest post from the lovely and inspiring Kelly from “a legacy of beauty.” Make sure you go check her out. She has an amazing testimony and her heart is pure gold. I am so glad that she is sharing her oily anti-anxiety routine. As many of you know I struggle with anxiety disorder and I am so grateful to have Kelly share her testimony of how essential oils have helped her in her journey. So without further adieu, I give you Kelly.
Friends, I just cannot say enough about how much using essential oils has added to my life.  I have seen so much improvement in my health and my overall wellbeing since using them, and I just love, love, love using God’s creation to heal my body.  I am using so many different oils for so many different things, but the reason that I got into them in the first place was because of my anxiety.  This past year has been a little overwhelming health wise, and along with that I have had this intense anxiety and panic unlike anything I have ever experienced before.  A lot of that has been tied to imbalances in my body, and some emotional reasons as well.  Ever since adding oils to my routine, I have just been so much happier.  And these oils in particular have really made an impact on my anxiety! (For more on why I use oils, click here.)
Everyday I have my oily anti-anxiety routine.  There are so many great Young Livingoils for anxiety, and since our bodies are all different, and the causes of our anxiety can be so many different things, what works for one person may not have the same result in another person.  But I’ve talked with so many others who have struggled with anxiety and have played around with different oils myself, and these five in the picture above seem to be some of the best when it comes to anxiety.  So here’s a little bit about these oils and how I use them!
Dragon Time is an awesome blend of oils, which includes Clary Sage, Fennel, Lavender, Marjoram, Yarrow, and Jasmine.  This is a great oil to help alleviate premenstrual and menstrual cramps and also that PMS-y crabbiness (just me??)–which makes me love the name even more.  It is also a great oil to have on hand for hormone-related anxiety problems and as a hormone balancer in general.  It’s an overall balancing oil, and I could talk about its greatness for days.  I put just one drop on the back of my neck every night before I go to bed.  If I’m about to start my cycle, I’ll increase its use for those days before and throughout.  Seriously, I used to get such bad cramps, and this oil has helped alleviate them so much.  I also used to get bad anxiety every month, and this wonderful blend has taken that away!
Valor is a popular favorite.  It is an oil blend of Spruce, Rosewood, Blue Tansy, and Frankincense (PS just find a way to use Frankincense everyday if you can.  It will only make your life better.  Trust me on that one.).  This oil is great for balancing the body and promoting peace, calmness, as well as for its aligning and confidence building properties.  I put a drop on the bottoms of my feet each morning and night.
Joy is the best thing that I have ever smelled.  Ever.  Someone commented recently that it is liquid gold, and I couldn’t agree more.  Joy is a blend of Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Rosewood, Lemon, Mandarin, Jasmine, Roman Chamomile, Palmarosa, and Rose.  Joy is great because it helps to open the adrenal glands, which often shut down when we are feeling a lot of stress or processing grief or pain, so this blend helps to open these glands again and heighten emotions.  Simply put, it makes you feel joy.  Just a whiff from the bottle makes me happy.  I put joy over my heart every morning and night, and then throughout the day as needed.  I haven’t put it in my diffuser yet mostly because I’m afraid that once I do I’ll go through the bottle so fast just from loving it so much.
Progessence Plus Serum is an awesome blend of oils (Copaiba, Frankincense, Cedarwood, Bergamot, Peppermint, Rosewood Leaf, and Clove) as well as natural progesterone from yams.  Part of what has caused me such bad anxiety these last months has been due to my hormones being all over the place, including very, very low progesterone levels.  I’m on a progesterone medication right now and have been for months, but have only started using this serum lately, and I can tell a difference even by using it twice a day.  I put a drop on each wrist in the morning and at night, and it has just helped with balancing my body and calming hormone-related anxiety.  It has so many great uses, including better sleep, and is great for pregnancy and postpartum.  This and Dragon Time and your monthly cycle–so good!
And then there is Peace & Calming, or in other words, my most used oil.  It’s a blend of Tangerine, Orange, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli, and Blue Tansy.  This oil is specifically created to help reduce depression, anxiety, stress, and tension and absolutely does have a calming effect on the body.  It is also good for cleansing the lymphatic system.  I put this oil on the back of my neck every morning, and the bottoms of my feet every night.  I’ll use it as needed throughout the day as well, either on my feet, or a drop on my wrists.  I also diffuse this oil at night while I sleep, and my sleep has improved so much since I have been using it.  I’ll actually wake up during the night if I forgot to turn my diffuser on like my body just knows.  The first time I smelled Peace & Calming, I hated it, which is usually a sign that we need that particular oil in our systems.  Now it is one of my favorite oils, and without a doubt the one I use the most.  And the smell?  AMAZING!
Like I mentioned, everyone’s bodies are different so what works for one person may not work for another.  But if you are struggling with anxiety, I would recommend these oils in a heartbeat.  Whenever people ask me about oils for anxiety, Valor and Peace & Calming are the very first ones I recommend, followed by all the rest.  Young Living also makes a blend called Stress Away which is also a great, calming oil.  Also, the quickest way to get an oil in our system when we are having anxiety is actually by smelling it–whether it is straight from the bottle or by diffusing it.  I just recently scanned for Valerian, which is great for calming the nervous system, so I plan on adding that to my routine as well (once I get over the smell–holy cow!).
Anxiety is so hard, and it has so many different faces.  I totally feel for you in your struggles if this is something that you deal with on a regular basis, or just here and there.  It’s hard!  But hopefully these oils will help you to consider adding something to your arsenal to calm your body down and keep it calm.  If you have any questions or would like more information, please do not hesitate to shoot me an email here.
Happy oiling!
