//My Word for 2015//

Last year was the first year that I decided to pray and ask the Lord what my “word” for that year should be. For 2014 the word was “REST”. This year for 2015 my word is “RENEW”. Another “R” word and it actually came to me a lot faster than I thought it would.

 It was pretty simple as I opened to my Jesus Calling by Sarah Young to read the Jan 1 devotional (I had good intensions of reading the entire book every day last year but yeah that didn’t happen so I am starting over again this year.) The word just stood out to me. Here is what the devotional says:
“Come to Me (Fawn) with a teachable spirit, eager to be changed.  A close walk with Me is a life of continual newness.  Do not cling to old ways as you step into a new year (Fawn).  Instead, seek My face with an open mind, knowing that your journey with Me involves being transformed by the renewing of your mind.  As you focus your thoughts on Me, be aware that I am fully attentive to you.  I see you (Fawn) with a steady eye, because My attention span is infinite.  I know and understand you completely; My thoughts embrace you in everlasting Love.  I also know the plans I have for you; plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Give yourself fully to this adventure of increasing attentiveness to My Presence.”
I don’t know about you but I want to be transformed. I don’t want to remain the same. I want Jesus to change me and the bible clearly says that we are transformed by the renewing of our minds. It’s something that I totally suck at.

So what does the word mean? There are several definitions but I liked this one that came up as soon as I googled it, “give fresh life or strength to”. Gosh I need that. Obviously its the work of the holy spirit that transforms me but there is also a command (an action I need to do) and that is to the continual renewal of my mind. Thats my job!

So how do we do that, renew our minds? I think it boils down to 3 simple yet hard things.

1.Be in God’s word.
2. Memorize Scripture
3.Slow Down

So those are my goals for this year. When I get overwhelmed with life I am praying the word RENEW will pop up in my head and remind me to go to God’s word, saturate my mind with it, and slow down focusing on Jesus not the craziness around me.

I would love to hear your word for this year. Comment below with what it is or leave a link to your blog so I can read all about it.

xoxo Fawn

    Ohhh sooo good! I also have the Jesus calling book but didn't make it through completely last year. Transformation is something I want to always be in the process of ..being renewed and more molded by him. I'm looking forward to hearing about and seeing how this takes hold in your life this year. Blessings to you!!! 🙂

    Memorizing scripture is something that is definitely on my "must do" list of 2015. In the past I've left various scriptures around the house – taped up on my computer or on my nightstand – but I know I could do so much better and do so much more. Thank you for the push 🙂
